As part of the Overtures Summer Series, 2011 S&R Washington Award winners Char Prescott and Ryo Yanagitani will be performing together.
Char Prescott has performed all over the United States and Canada, including several solo performances at the John F. Kennedy Center, with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, the Reston Chamber Symphony, the Barry Studio Orchestra, and the West Potomac Sinfonietta. Ms. Prescott has been principal cellist of orchestras at the Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West, and the Manhattan School of Music.
Ryo Yanagitani is one of Canada's most promising young concert artists and has also performed in a wide range of settings, from the duo sonata repertoire to large ensembles. His most recent collaboration with cellist Dai Miyata resulted in a concert tour of Japan. Ryo is an active member of the Musique a la Mode chamber ensemble in New York, specializing in the performance of new music and unusual works. He is also pianist of Duo Chrysalis with cellist Jacques Lee Wood.
